The Perkiomen Valley boys lacrosse community is mourning the loss of Sam Nice, a 2021 graduate who died on April 4, 2026, after battling glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
Nice’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from former teammates, coaches, and community members, many of whom are remembering him not only for his athletic ability but also for his leadership and character.
During his time with the program, Nice was regarded as a key figure on the team, particularly during a challenging period. Coaches and teammates described him as a player who emphasized accountability and unity, helping to shape a team culture that continues to influence the program.
One of the most notable moments of his high school career came in 2021 during a game against Haverford High School. After trailing at halftime, Nice scored six goals in the second half, leading Perkiomen Valley to a 10–9 comeback victory. The performance has since been remembered by many as a defining example of his determination and competitive drive.
Off the field, Nice was described as a dedicated friend, family member, and teammate. Following his diagnosis nearly two years ago, those close to him say he approached his illness with resilience, continuing to inspire others with his outlook and perseverance.
As the community reflects on his life, many say his influence extends beyond the field, citing the lasting impression he made on those around him.
Funeral arrangements and memorial details have not yet been publicly announced.
